Bicyclist Seriously Injured In Suspected Hit-And-Run Crash In East Naples
A bicyclist has suffered serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle that reportedly fled the scene in East Naples late on Monday night.
Emergency crews were called to Bayshore Drive, just south of Linda Drive, shortly before midnight following reports of a collision involving a bicycle and a vehicle.
Firefighters from Greater Naples Fire Rescue, alongside Naples Fire-Rescue Department and Collier County EMS personnel, arrived at the scene at approximately 11:55pm.
According to fire and EMS radio communications, the cyclist, believed to be a 42-year-old man, sustained significant injuries and was designated a Trauma Alert.
He was taken to NCH Baker Hospital for treatment.
The driver involved is reported to have left the scene before emergency responders arrived.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear, and investigators are working to establish exactly what happened in the moments leading up to the crash.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. No information about the vehicle involved has been released.
Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information that could assist investigators to come forward.
