What began as a major police investigation outside a Walmart store in Naples has now taken a significant turn — with detectives confirming the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Emergency crews were called to the Walmart on Tamiami Trail East shortly after 3am on Sunday after a body was discovered outside the store.

For several hours, the scene remained sealed off as Collier County Sheriff’s Office investigators worked alongside fire rescue and EMS personnel to establish exactly what had happened.

Initially, authorities described the incident only as an “active death investigation”, releasing few details while forensic teams examined the area.

But investigators have now concluded there is no evidence of foul play.

The sheriff’s office has not released the identity of the deceased, nor provided further information surrounding the circumstances leading up to the death.

The investigation remains open pending routine findings from the medical examiner.
