Soft batch Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Cookies

½ cup unsalted butter, softened (not melted—this isn’t a puddle situation)
4 oz cream cheese, softened (yes, this is why these cookies are superior)
Âľ cup brown sugar (for depth, mystery, and vibes)
ÂĽ cup granulated sugar (for balance and good manners)
1 large egg (from a chicken, ideally)
1 tbsp vanilla extract (measure with your heart, but not too much heart)
1 Âľ cups all-purpose flour (spooned, leveled, not packed like emotional baggage)
½ tsp baking soda
ÂĽ tsp salt (to make the sweet parts feel appreciated)
1½ cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet preferred, but we don’t judge your choices)
Optional: flaky sea salt for sprinkling, if you want to feel fancy and powerful
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
This is important. Do it now. Not later when the dough is done and you’re surprised.
Cream together the butter, cream cheese, brown sugar, and granulated sugar
Beat until smooth, fluffy, and emotionally stable-looking. This may take 2–3 minutes and one life reassessment.
Add the egg and vanilla
Mix until combined. If it looks slightly curdled, don’t panic—it’s just going through a phase.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt
This is your “dry ingredients meeting.” They have a lot to discuss.
Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients
Mix just until combined. Overmixing leads to tough cookies and regret.
Fold in chocolate chips
Use all of them. This is not the time for restraint or character development.
Scoop dough into balls (about 2 tablespoons each)
Place on a lined baking sheet, leaving space for spreading and personal growth.
Bake for 10–12 minutes
The cookies should look slightly underbaked in the center. This is correct. Trust the process. They will finish cooking while you stare at them impatiently.
Optional but encouraged: Sprinkle with flaky sea salt
This elevates the cookie from “very good” to “people will ask for the recipe and you’ll feel smug.”
Cool for 5 minutes on the pan, then transfer to a rack
Or eat one immediately and burn your mouth because self-control is a myth.
These cookies stay soft for days thanks to the cream cheese, assuming they survive that long.
