Marco Island Movie Theater to Close After 32 Years
After more than three decades serving the community, Marco Movies has announced it will permanently close its doors at the end of April.
The beloved local theater, a staple for residents and visitors alike, shared the news with a message of gratitude, reflecting on its 32-year history as a gathering place for filmgoers on Marco Island. From family outings to date nights and community events, the theater has played a central role in the island’s cultural life since it first opened.
“We are so proud to have been part of this community and incredibly grateful for the memories we’ve shared,” the business said in its announcement.
As the final weeks approach, customers are being urged to use any remaining passes, gift cards, or school cards by April 28, which will mark the last day they can be redeemed. While gift cards are still being sold during the theater’s closing period, they must also be used before that same deadline.
The closure marks the end of an era for Marco Island, where locally owned businesses like Marco Movies have long contributed to the area’s small-town charm. For many residents, the theater’s shutdown represents more than just the loss of a place to watch films—it’s the loss of a community landmark filled with decades of shared experiences.
No official reason for the closure was detailed in the announcement.
