Funeral Arrangements Stephen R. Mariani and Rita Mariani

Stephen R. Mariani and Rita Mariani tragically passed away on September 21, 2025, following a jet ski accident in Caxambas Bay, Marco Island, Florida. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported that their jet ski collided with a docked boat on a lift, throwing them into the water. Both individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Stephen Mariani, 67, was a former Marco Island police officer, and Rita Mariani, 49, was known for her vibrant presence in the local community. They were also retired New York police officers who served during the September 11 attacks. Friends and community members have described them as “the brightest lights in the room,” emphasizing their kindness and dedication to service.

Funeral Arrangements

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, located at 625 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108. Following the Mass, entombment will take place at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, situated at 525 111th Ave N, Naples, FL 34108. (Dignity Memorial)
