Naples Man Arrested After Street Racing at 150 MPH on I‑75 in Collier County
Collier County, FL – A Naples man is behind bars after deputies say he was caught racing down Interstate 75 at an alleged 150 miles per hour, endangering other motorists during a high-speed chase through Collier County.
According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), Christian Terrero, 21, was spotted Thursday night traveling at dangerous speeds southbound on I‑75 near mile marker 105. Deputies say the pursuit extended onto Collier Boulevard, where Terrero reportedly ran a red light and turned off his headlights in an apparent attempt to evade law enforcement.
Aerial video released by CCSO captured Terrero fleeing from a traffic stop after deputies observed three cars racing on the interstate near the Golden Gate Parkway exit. The footage shows the driver maneuvering through the parking lot of Physicians Regional Medical Center and looping back onto the roadway as deputies continued their pursuit.
“That is crazy. That is an insane speed to be going here,” one witness said. Another driver expressed concern about the chase, noting, “I don’t even feel safe driving 45 here. And it’s a construction zone, so 150 is very fast.”
The chase continued north across Rattlesnake Hammock Road toward Forest Glen Boulevard before Terrero eventually pulled over and was taken into custody without further incident.
Terrero now faces charges of second-degree fleeing and eluding and violating Florida’s street-racing law. He remains in Collier County Jail.
CCSO officials reminded the public of Florida’s “super speeder” law, which requires arrest for anyone caught driving over 100 mph or 50 mph above the posted speed limit, highlighting the serious consequences of reckless driving.
Residents in the area say the incident has shaken their sense of safety on the roads. “That’s like the max speed limit in my car,” said Alejandra, a local witness from East Naples.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office urges drivers to stay vigilant, obey posted speed limits, and report unsafe driving to help prevent dangerous incidents on busy roadways.
