Where You Can Openly Have Beer

Where You Cannot Openly Have Beer

  • Public streets & sidewalks

    • Most cities prohibit open containers; exceptions are rare and usually for special events.

  • Public parks & beaches

    • Unless the park specifically allows alcohol in designated areas.

  • Vehicles

    • Open containers are illegal in cars or boats, even if you’re not driving.

  • Check local ordinances—some cities like Key West allow open containers downtown.

  • Fines can apply for violations (usually $100–$500).

  • “Open carry” of beer is not the same as alcohol consumption laws—you still need to follow age limits (21+).
