**Local Teen Reports Suspicious Encounter; Sheriff’s Department Increases Patrols**
Local authorities are investigating a reported suspicious encounter involving a teenage girl that occurred Friday evening behind her apartment complex on Sunshine Boulevard.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the incident took place at approximately 8:30 p.m. The teen reported that she was approached by an unidentified male who attempted to lure her away. The girl immediately retreated to the safety of her home and alerted her family, who contacted law enforcement.
Deputies responded swiftly to the scene with the support of K9 units in an attempt to track the individual. The department’s Real Time Operations Center also assisted, reviewing available footage and data from the area. Despite a thorough search of the vicinity, the suspect was not located.
The suspect is described as a tall, thin male, approximately 6 feet in height. He was reportedly wearing distinctive all-white clothing, including a hood, and a black mask that covered most of his face except for his eyes.
In response to the incident, the Sheriff’s Department has announced a visible increase in patrols in and around the Sunshine Boulevard area to reassure the community and deter any further suspicious activity.
“We take these reports extremely seriously,” said Sergeant David Mitchell, a department spokesperson. “The young person did exactly the right thing by removing herself from the situation and reporting it immediately. We urge all residents to remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings, and report any suspicious persons or activity directly to law enforcement by calling 911.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this incident or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area last night is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Department tip line at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477)
