Collier County, FL

A tense standoff in a North Naples neighborhood ended late Thursday night with a man taken into custody after crashing into multiple vehicles and a home, then barricading himself inside a residence with a handgun.

According to the Collier County Sheriffโ€™s Office (CCSO), deputies first responded around 9:57 p.m. to reports of a vehicle-versus-building crash in the 1300 block of Piper Boulevard. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the suspect had crashed into at least two parked cars and a house before fleeing the scene in a heavily damaged vehicle.

The suspect was later tracked to a home at 121 Kirtland Drive, where he allegedly brandished a handgun and pointed it at his two children before barricading himself inside. Negotiators and the CCSO SWAT Team surrounded the home as the man reportedly made threatening remarks to deputies during the standoff.

After several hours of tense negotiations, the suspect ultimately surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody by SWAT officers.

No injuries were reported, and authorities have not released the suspectโ€™s name or any potential charges at this time.

The Collier County Sheriffโ€™s Office continues to investigate the incident.
