Marco Island Executive Airport Opens New $3.5 Million Bulk Aircraft Storage Hangar
Facility expected to boost general aviation and airport revenue

Marco Island, Fla. — November 10, 2025

Marco Island Executive Airport (MKY) has officially completed construction of a new 12,000-square-foot bulk aircraft storage hangar, a major addition designed to support the airport’s growing general aviation community and enhance its financial sustainability.

The $3.5 million facility—funded in part through Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) grants—will provide much-needed covered storage space for aircraft that would otherwise be parked on open ramp areas during Southwest Florida’s busy travel season.

During peak months, MKY typically hosts 60 to 70 aircraft parked outdoors, many of them high-value private planes. Airport officials say the new hangar addresses a longstanding need among pilots and aircraft owners for secure, weather-protected storage options.

“This new hangar represents an important investment in the future of general aviation on Marco Island,” said airport management in a statement. “It provides a level of service that aircraft owners have come to expect while generating new revenue to support airport operations and improvements.”

The addition is expected to become a major revenue generator for the airport, offering protection from Florida’s intense sun, humidity, and tropical storms. It also reflects MKY’s continued growth as a key gateway for private and charter aviation in Collier County.

With the completion of this project, Marco Island Executive Airport continues its mission to balance community service, economic sustainability, and aviation excellence—one hangar at a time.
