BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — The Mile Marker 39 Fire, which ignited on August 18, 2025, near the Miami metropolitan area, has now been declared fully contained.
Sparked by lightning during a powerful storm, the wildfire scorched an estimated 48,000 acres in Broward County. Dry conditions and strong winds fueled its rapid spread, prompting a large-scale response from the Florida Forest Service. Both aerial and ground crews were deployed to battle the blaze.
After more than a week of firefighting efforts, officials confirmed that as of August 26, the fire is 100% contained.
