NAPLES, FL – The holiday season is officially set to sparkle in downtown Naples with two grand tree lighting ceremonies scheduled on the city’s most iconic avenues. Residents and visitors are preparing to trade in their swimsuits for Santa hats as Third Street South and Fifth Avenue South host their annual festive extravaganzas in late November and early December.

The events are traditionally the largest seasonal showcases in Southwest Florida, featuring entertainment, dining, and the spectacular lighting of massive Christmas trees.


 

First Frost: Third Street South Hosts 48th Annual Lighting

 

Naples will celebrate its earliest holiday cheer on Monday, November 24th, with the 48th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Third Street South. Known as the historic heart of Old Naples, this event transforms the district into a quintessential winter wonderland—complete with real “snowfall.”

  • When: Monday, November 24th, 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

  • Key Moments: The evening officially kicks off the month-long “Christmas on Third” celebration. Highlights include the eagerly anticipated arrival of Santa Claus and the official lighting of the towering Christmas tree at approximately 6:20 p.m., immediately followed by the first magical “snowfall” of the season.

  • Atmosphere: Attendees can stroll among elaborately decorated storefronts, listen to live music, and enjoy extended hours at the avenue’s sophisticated boutiques and renowned restaurants. Dining reservations are highly recommended due to the event’s popularity. The district will also feature “Letters to Santa” mailboxes as part of the “North Pole Delivery District” designation.


 

Grand Scale: Fifth Avenue South Christmas Walk & Tree Lighting

 

The holiday celebrations continue into early December with the Christmas Walk & Tree Lighting Ceremonyon Fifth Avenue South. This two-day festival is the city’s largest showcase, offering a dynamic mix of entertainment and dining options.

  • When: The festival runs Friday, December 5th, through Saturday, December 6th, with the main lighting event on Friday evening.

  • Key Moment: The grand Christmas tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for Friday, December 5th, at 6:00 p.m. in Sugden Plaza, marking the formal start of the holiday season on the avenue.

  • Attractions: Fifth Avenue South will be closed to vehicle traffic for the festival, allowing pedestrians to enjoy live musical performances, a Living Nativity scene, an ice skating rink, bustling holiday vendors, and meet-and-greets with Santa Claus. Many restaurants will offer special “Avenue Dining” experiences, serving dinner right on the street.

 

City Parade Connects the Avenues

 

The two celebrations will be united by the annual City of Naples Christmas Parade, which is scheduled for Tuesday, December 9th. The parade will begin near Third Street South and travel north toward Fifth Avenue South, ensuring a cohesive and continuous flow of festive spirit throughout the downtown area.
