Naples Man Arrested on DUI Manslaughter Charge After Fatal Motorcycle Crash
NAPLES, Fla. — A 33-year-old Naples man, Mark Allen Frederick, has been arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter following a deadly crash that claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Wednesday evening.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Frederick was driving a pickup truck northbound on Airport-Pulling Road when he attempted to make a left turn onto Longboat Drive. His vehicle crossed directly into the path of a southbound motorcycle, resulting in a violent collision.
The motorcyclist, a 61-year-old man from Naples, was transported to a nearby hospital as a trauma alert. Despite emergency medical efforts, he later died from his injuries.
The crash occurred shortly after 6 p.m., prompting authorities to close all southbound lanes of Airport-Pulling Road as troopers and emergency crews worked the scene and conducted an investigation.
FHP confirmed that Frederick showed signs of impairment at the scene. Following a field investigation, he was taken into custody and charged with DUI manslaughter. Records show that Frederick has prior DUI and speeding citations in Collier County.
The identity of the deceased motorcyclist is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
The crash remains under investigation, and additional charges are possible. Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to contact FHP.
