Naples Tees Up Transformative Public Golf Experience with The Gate Golf Club Set for 2026 Opening

The eagerly awaited Gate Golf Club is set to transform public golf and recreation in Southwest Florida, aiming for a grand opening in late spring 2026. Rising on the site of the former Golden Gate Golf Course at Golden Gate Parkway and Collier Boulevard, this ambitious project promises a fresh blend of affordable golf, cutting-edge amenities, and strong community focus.

More than just a golf course, The Gate is designed as a nonprofit public hub welcoming golfers of all ages and skill levels, with an emphasis on accessibility and affordability for Collier County residents.

At the heart of the club lies a meticulously designed 9-hole, par-35 golf course, crafted by the acclaimed Jacobsen-Hardy Golf Course Design team led by PGA Tour legend Peter Jacobsen. The course balances challenge and playability with premium features like TifEagle putting greens and Celebration Bermuda fairways, ensuring an exceptional experience for both beginners and seasoned players.

The Gate also offers a robust lineup of amenities, including:

  • Illuminated Driving Range: A state-of-the-art, 30-bay covered facility with lighting, automatic ball dispensers, and advanced technology to practice anytime, rain or shine.

  • Himalayas-Style Putting Green: An 18-hole illuminated putting course designed for fun and skill-building.

  • Oakwood Grill: A 175-seat American-style restaurant offering affordable dining with an elevated atmosphere, scratch kitchen, and scenic course views.

  • The Village: The social center featuring the Oakwood Grill, a full-service Pavilion Bar, a quick-service spot called “The Gimme,” a golf shop, an activity lawn for family fun, and event spaces for community gatherings.

Central to The Gate’s mission is its role as the new headquarters for First Tee – Naples/Collier. This innovative youth development campus will provide interactive technology, educational programs, and golf skill-building classes aimed at fostering life skills, character, and values in young people. Special rates will be available for county residents and juniors to promote greater accessibility for the next generation of golfers.

Construction began early 2025 with site prep, invasive vegetation removal, and demolition. Golf course shaping and drainage kicked off in March, followed by construction on The Village—including hitting bays and the restaurant—in June.

This visionary project is fueled by a passionate team of local supporters and significant backing from Arthrex founder Reinhold Schmieding. Key contributors include MHK Architecture, DeAngelis Diamond (construction management), and Glase Golf, Inc. (course builder). Bobby Jones Links will oversee daily operations to ensure a smooth, high-quality visitor experience.

As work progresses, The Gate Golf Club is shaping up to be a cornerstone of accessible recreation and community spirit—poised to become a beloved Naples landmark for years to come.
