Water Main Break on Collier Boulevard Snarls Southbound Traffic

A water main break on Collier Boulevard, just north of Vanderbilt Beach Road, caused major traffic disruptions Wednesday afternoon and prompted an urgent response from repair crews.
The break was reported around 2:45 p.m., leading to the closure of multiple southbound lanes. Only one lane remained open, resulting in heavy delays along one of North Naples’ busiest roadways.
Deputies from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to manage traffic and assist with the lane closures. Officials are urging drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes until repairs are complete.
Crews from the Collier County Water Division worked into the evening to evaluate the damage and begin repairs. While there is currently no confirmation of water service interruptions in surrounding neighborhoods, residents are advised to monitor county notifications for any potential boil-water advisories.
“Safety is our priority — both for our crews and for the traveling public,” said a county spokesperson. “We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to restore the roadway and water system to normal operation.”
Drivers should expect ongoing congestion on Collier Boulevard, with southbound traffic potentially reduced to one lane through the evening commute.
For real-time updates, residents are encouraged to check the county’s NotifyNow alert system or follow official Collier County social media channels.
