Wrong-Way Driver Causes Deadly Three-Vehicle Crash on I-75 in North Naples
A tragic crash on Interstate 75 in North Naples has left one man dead after a wrong-way driver triggered a violent three-vehicle collision.
The crash occurred in the southbound lanes near mile marker 109, an area frequently traveled by commuters and visitors alike. According to authorities, a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction entered the southbound lanes, leading to a head-on style crash involving two other vehicles.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but one man was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. Officials have not yet released his identity pending notification of next of kin.
At least two other vehicles were involved in the crash, and additional injuries have been reported, though the severity remains unclear at this time.
The incident caused significant disruptions along I-75, with southbound lanes partially shut down for several hours as crews worked to investigate and clear the wreckage.
The Florida Highway Patrol is currently leading the investigation and working to determine how the wrong-way driver entered the interstate—whether due to impairment, confusion, or missed signage.
Wrong-way crashes, while relatively rare, are among the most deadly types of roadway incidents due to the high speeds and direct impact involved. Authorities continue to urge drivers to remain alert, especially during nighttime and early morning hours when these incidents are more likely to occur.
This remains an active investigation, and updates are expected as more details become available.
