A quiet morning in East Naples has been shattered by a grim discovery.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office says detectives are now carrying out an active investigation after human remains were found at Sugden Regional Park on Avalon Drive — a popular recreational area better known for paddle boats, walking trails and family gatherings.
Deputies sealed off part of the park as forensic teams moved in, combing the scene for evidence beneath the sweltering South Florida heat.
So far, investigators have revealed little about the remains — including how long they may have been there, or whether foul play is suspected. Authorities say identification efforts are now underway alongside a full examination by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Residents nearby described a heavy law enforcement presence as crime scene tape surrounded sections of the park throughout the day.
For now, detectives are keeping many details tightly guarded, but officials insist the investigation remains active and ongoing.
