🏖️ Marco Island Beach Conditions — Tuesday, August 18, 2026

Overall Beach Score: ⭐ 8.2/10 — GOOD

It’s a hot, humid beach day on Marco Island, with plenty of sunshine early and the usual summertime chance of an afternoon thunderstorm. The Gulf is extremely warm, and current official red-tide information does not indicate a new major red-tide warning for Marco Island, although conditions can change quickly and FWC recommends checking the daily sampling map. (FWC)

🔴 Red Tide Status — 🟢 LOW CONCERN

The latest FWC statewide report, issued August 14, is the most recent official status available today; the next statewide report is scheduled for August 21. FWC’s short-term forecast calls for generally southward movement of surface and subsurface waters from Pinellas County toward northern Monroe County. (FWC)

Mote Marine and FWC continue their cooperative monitoring program, including regular water sampling and beach observations in Southwest Florida. (Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium)

Beach status: 🟢 No current major red-tide alert identified for Marco Island

💧 Water Quality — 🟢 GOOD

The latest available South Marco Beach water-quality result I found was rated Good on August 10. Florida’s Healthy Beaches program routinely monitors fecal-indicator bacteria and posts advisories when needed. (Florida Today Data)

Today’s rating: 🟢 Good — no major swimming advisory identified

🌊 Gulf Water Temperature — 🔥 VERY WARM

Expect Gulf water around 86–88°F (30–31°C) near Marco Island. August water temperatures typically average around 87°F (31°C). (SeaTemperature.info)

Swimming: 🟢 Excellent for warm-water lovers
Cooling off: 🥵 You’ll probably need the water to cool you down rather than the other way around.

🌊 Surf & Marine Conditions — 🟢 GOOD

Expect generally light to moderate surf, with conditions becoming less settled around afternoon thunderstorms.

⚠️ Thunderstorm caution: Summer storms can produce sudden lightning, gusty winds and rapidly changing water conditions. If thunder is heard, get out of the water and off the beach.

🌦️ Weather & Rain Chances

Today: Mostly sunny and humid with a high around 94°F (34°C) and low around 79°F (26°C).

The bigger story is the heat and humidity, with scattered afternoon/evening thunderstorms possible. Wednesday also carries a thunderstorm risk, while the rest of the week remains hot and humid with periodic storm chances.

🌴 Tropical Outlook — 🟢 NO DEVELOPMENT EXPECTED

The latest National Hurricane Center Tropical Weather Outlook says tropical cyclone formation is not expected in the Atlantic, Caribbean Sea or Gulf of America during the next 7 days. (National Hurricane Center)

That is good news for Marco Island, although we’re now entering the climatological peak of Atlantic hurricane season, so conditions should continue to be monitored.

🌊 Tides — Marco Island

NOAA’s Marco Island tide station is the official reference point for local tide predictions. (NOAA Tides and Currents)

Today’s tides: expect the normal four-stage tidal cycle, with the timing particularly important for shelling, fishing, paddleboarding and beach walking. NOAA notes that its tide predictions are based on the latest available information but are preliminary until quality-controlled. (NOAA Tides and Currents)

🌬️ Air Quality — 🟢 GOOD

Marco Island’s latest available reading is US AQI 27 — Good, with PM2.5 at approximately 4.9 µg/m³. (IQAir)

🟢 Air quality: Good
😎 Outdoor activity: Generally favorable
🥵 Main concern: Heat and humidity rather than air pollution

🌅 Sunrise / Sunset

🌅 Sunrise: 7:01 AM
🌇 Sunset: 7:59 PM
☀️ Daylight: approximately 12 hours 59 minutes. (Time and Date)

🎣 Fishing Outlook — 🟢 GOOD

Summer fishing remains productive around Marco Island. Recent reports indicate snook, mangrove snapper, redfish and other inshore species are available, with snook beginning to spread out from their spawning areas. (Captain Experiences)

🎣 Best bets: Mangrove snapper, snook, redfish, barracuda and other inshore species.
🌅 Best strategy: Fish early before the heat and afternoon thunderstorms become a factor.
