Driver Arrested After Early-Morning Golden Gate Crash Damages Multiple Vehicles

A family in Golden Gate is demanding action to improve road safety after a dramatic crash left several vehicles damaged outside their home in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, 19-year-old Marlon Sotolongo was arrested after deputies say he lost control of his vehicle near the curve at 44th Street Southwest and 32nd Avenue Southwest at approximately 1:40 a.m.

Investigators say the vehicle first struck a mailbox before careening into three vehicles parked in a residential driveway. Neighbors described a scene of extensive damage, saying the force of the collision launched the mailbox across the property, where it then struck and damaged two additional vehicles.

Residents who live near the intersection say they have long been concerned about speeding and dangerous driving along the stretch of road, particularly around the curve where the crash occurred.

No information has been released regarding injuries, but the incident has renewed calls from local homeowners for traffic-calming measures and additional safety improvements in the neighborhood.

The investigation remains ongoing.
