Marco Island Police Respond to Vessel Crash Near Neal Key; FWC Investigating

MARCO ISLAND, Fla. — The Marco Island Police Department’s Marine Unit responded Tuesday afternoon to a vessel crash near Neal Key after receiving a report at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Officers met the vessel operator, an adult woman, at the Goodland Boat Ramp following the incident. According to police, she was not seriously injured and declined medical treatment at the scene.

Authorities have not released details about how the crash occurred or whether any other vessels were involved.

The Marco Island Police Department is reminding everyone enjoying Southwest Florida’s waterways to practice safe boating. Officials encourage operators of personal watercraft and other vessels to:

  • Always wear a properly fitted U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket.

  • Operate at a safe speed for current conditions.

  • Stay alert for other boaters and changing water conditions.

  • Avoid reckless or careless operation.

Police say responsible boating helps protect everyone on the water, especially during the busy summer boating season.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). Additional information will be released if it becomes available.
