Naples Food Truck Shut Down After Raw Sewage, Handwashing Violations Found During State Inspection

NAPLES, Fla. — A Collier County food truck was ordered to shut down immediately after state inspectors uncovered multiple food safety violations, including a lack of handwashing supplies and liquid waste draining directly onto a parking lot.

Cuisine Lakay Take-Out And Groceries, located at 2377 Tamiami Trail E, Naples, was temporarily closed by inspectors with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) following a routine inspection on July 10, 2026.

The inspection resulted in 10 total violations, including two high-priority, seven intermediate, and one basic violation.

🚨 High-Priority Violations

According to the inspection report, inspectors observed an employee preparing food after repeatedly leaving and re-entering the truck without washing their hands. Inspectors also noted there was no soap available for employees to wash their hands.

Another high-priority violation involved cooked vegetables being cold-held at 55°F (13°C)—well above the 41°F (5°C)maximum temperature required by Florida food safety regulations. The operator reportedly moved the vegetables for rapid reheating during the inspection.

High-priority violations included:

  • 🧼 Employee preparing food without washing hands, with no soap available.

  • 🌡️ Cooked vegetables held at 55°F (13°C) instead of 41°F (5°C) or below.

⚠️ Additional Violations

Inspectors documented several additional concerns that contributed to the emergency closure, including:

  • 🚰 Handwashing sink blocked by stored items.

  • 🧻 No paper towels available at the handwashing station.

  • 🧴 No sanitizer available for food-contact surfaces.

  • 💧 Liquid waste draining directly onto the parking lot instead of an approved wastewater disposal system.

  • 📚 No proof employees had completed required food safety training.

  • 📝 No documentation showing employees had been informed of their responsibility to report illnesses that could spread foodborne disease.

The inspection also noted one basic violation involving the truck’s license number not being permanently displayed on the exterior as required by state regulations.

🔎 Follow-Up Inspection

State records indicate a callback inspection was conducted later the same day. However, as of July 10, an additional follow-up inspection was still required.

Customers planning to visit the business should verify its current operating status through the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation before dining.

About Restaurant Inspection Reports

Florida restaurant and mobile food inspections are snapshots of conditions observed at the time of inspection. An emergency closure does not necessarily indicate ongoing violations, and businesses are generally allowed to reopen once inspectors verify that serious food safety issues have been corrected.
