⚠️ A heartbreaking night in Collier County ended with the loss of an infant boy after deputies responded to a reported drowning at a home Tuesday evening.
According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office incident report, deputies arrived at a residence on 6th Street around 10:50 p.m. after receiving a report involving an infant in distress.
When deputies entered the outdoor pool area, they found an infant boy lying on the floor. The child was unconscious, not breathing, and had no pulse, according to the report.
đźš‘ Deputies immediately began life-saving efforts. One deputy performed CPR while another arrived with an automated external defibrillator (AED) and a LifeVac rescue device. CPR efforts continued until emergency medical crews arrived and took over medical care.
The infant was transported by EMS to an NCH North Naples Hospital facility, where medical teams continued treatment.
Sadly, the child later died.
🕵️ The sheriff’s office said a homicide section detective responded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation. A deputy also remained with the infant’s mother at the hospital until the detective arrived.
The Florida Department of Children and Families was notified and responded as part of the investigation.
Authorities have not released additional details, including the circumstances leading up to the drowning or whether any charges are expected.
🏊 A painful reminder for families: Florida officials routinely stress that drowning can happen quickly and silently — especially around residential pools. Safety experts recommend constant supervision, secure pool barriers, alarms, and CPR knowledge as critical layers of protection.
đź’™ As the investigation continues, the Collier County community is left mourning the loss of a child and supporting a family facing an unimaginable tragedy.
