IMMOKALEE, Fla. — A man is in custody after two women were found dead at a home in Immokalee, bringing a swift police search across county lines to an end within hours of the discovery.
The investigation began shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Friday, when deputies from the Collier County Sheriff’s Officeresponded to reports of a possible shooting at a residence on North 9th Street.
Inside, deputies found the bodies of two women, aged 25 and 29.
Investigators quickly focused their attention on Lorenzo Coleman, 25, of Immokalee, who authorities say was known to both victims.
According to the sheriff’s office, Coleman left the scene in a white Dodge Challenger before deputies arrived, prompting an immediate search involving patrol deputies and the agency’s Aviation Unit.
The search lasted less than two hours.
At around 10 a.m., deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance on Lonestar Lane in Lehigh Acres, where Coleman was located and taken into custody without further incident.
The speed of the arrest now allows investigators to turn their attention to what remains the central question: why two young women lost their lives.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that charges are pending, but has not yet released the identities of the victims or disclosed what investigators believe led to the killings.
For residents of Immokalee, the violence is likely to leave a community searching for answers.
Detectives remain at the scene gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses and piecing together the timeline of events that unfolded on Friday morning.
Authorities have described the investigation as active, with further information expected as detectives continue their work.
