🌊 Naples Pier Rebuild Update (July 2026)
Construction of the new Naples Pier is steadily progressing after work officially began in January 2026, more than three years after Hurricane Ian destroyed much of the historic landmark. (Naples, FL)
🚧 Current Status
Demolition of the old pier is well underway, with heavy equipment removing the remaining damaged structure.
Construction crews have begun the early phases of rebuilding the foundation for the new, more resilient pier.
The project remains on schedule for an approximately 18-month construction period, which would put completion around mid-2027, assuming weather and construction conditions remain favorable. (Naples, FL)
🏗️ What’s Being Built
The replacement pier will feature:
A stronger hurricane-resistant design.
A wider public walkway with improved fishing areas.
Modern lighting and utilities.
New concession facilities.
Updated public restrooms and showers.
A redesigned landside entrance that includes a police substation, improved pedestrian flow, landscaping, and gathering spaces. (WBBH)
🚶 Beach Access
Although the pier itself is closed:
The beach remains open.
Temporary pedestrian access routes are available via Broad Avenue South and 13th Avenue South.
Limited parking is still available near the site.
Temporary restroom facilities have been provided while permanent facilities are under construction. (Naples, FL)
💰 Project Background
The rebuild contract is valued at approximately $23.5 million.
FEMA approved funding for an in-kind replacement after extensive federal environmental and permitting reviews.
The project received its final federal permit in late 2025 before construction began in January 2026. (Naples, FL)
Looking Ahead
If construction continues on schedule, visitors could once again be walking the length of the iconic Naples Pier sometime in 2027. The new structure is designed to better withstand future hurricanes while preserving one of Southwest Florida’s most recognizable landmarks. (Naples, FL)
