Emergency Response on Marco Island Beach After Juvenile Suffers Medical Crisis

A major emergency response was launched on Marco Island Beach on Monday afternoon after reports of a serious medical incident involving a child.

Shortly after midday, officers from the Marco Island Police Department, firefighters from Marco Island Fire Rescue, paramedics from Collier County EMS, and other public safety agencies were dispatched to the beach following multiple 911 calls.

Initial reports from callers varied widely, with some suggesting a possible shark attack while others feared the child had suffered a cardiac arrest.

However, authorities have now confirmed the incident was not a shark attack.

First responders quickly located a juvenile patient experiencing what officials described as a serious medical emergency. Police officers, firefighters, paramedics and EMS personnel worked together to provide immediate life-saving care at the scene before the child was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.

Officials have not released details about the patient’s condition.

Authorities also thanked beachgoers who assisted emergency crews and helped provide access to the patient during the response.

The incident briefly sparked concern among visitors as emergency vehicles converged on the beach, but officials say there was no shark-related threat to the public.
