MARCO ISLAND, Fla. (July 23, 2026) – The City of Marco Island will begin its 2026 Manhole Lining Project on Monday, July 28, as part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving the City’s wastewater infrastructure.
The project is expected to continue through the end of September 2026 and will rehabilitate 30 existing sanitary sewer manholeslocated along West Elkcam Circle, Herb Savage Way, and the Veterans Park area.
Marco Island’s wastewater collection system consists of approximately 290 miles of sanitary sewer mains and more than 2,100 manholes. Over time, manholes can deteriorate due to age and environmental conditions, leading to cracking, structural weakening, leaks, and groundwater infiltration. To address these issues, contractors will apply a 100% solids epoxy coating to the interior surfaces of the manholes. This rehabilitation process strengthens the structures, seals potential infiltration points, and helps extend the service life of the City’s wastewater system.
The 2026 project includes approximately 246 vertical feet of manhole rehabilitation.
Residents may notice crews working in the project areas during construction. Temporary lane shifts or minor traffic impacts may occur while work is underway. Traffic control measures will be in place to help ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and construction personnel. Access to homes and businesses will be maintained whenever possible.
