🏖️ Marco Island Weekly Beach Report

Friday, August 14 – Thursday, August 20, 2026

🌴 THE BEACH IS CALLING!

It’s another classic Southwest Florida summer weekend on Marco Island — sunshine, warm Gulf water, tropical humidity and those sneaky afternoon thunderstorms that seem to appear just when someone has finally perfected their beach-chair setup. 😎🌴

If you’re heading to the sand this week, morning is your friend. 🌅 The earlier hours generally offer the best combination of sunshine, lighter winds and fewer chances of getting caught in a sudden Florida downpour.

☀️ BEACH WEATHER

Expect plenty of summer sunshine mixed with clouds, with daytime temperatures generally around the upper 80s to low 90s°F (31–33°C).

🔥 Heat index: It can feel considerably hotter than the thermometer suggests, especially during the afternoon.

🌦️ Rain: Keep an eye on the sky after lunchtime. Typical summer showers and thunderstorms can develop quickly, especially during the afternoon.

🌬️ Winds: Generally manageable for beachgoers, but breezier conditions can develop during and around thunderstorms.

Beach tip: If the clouds start getting dark and you hear thunder, that’s your cue to leave the water. The Gulf isn’t going anywhere. ⚡🏃‍♂️

🌊 GULF WATER

🏊 Water temperature: Expect the Gulf to remain very warm — around the upper 80s°F (around 30–31°C).

Translation: There is absolutely no excuse for saying the water is too cold. 😂

The warm water will be inviting for swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking and simply floating around wondering why you don’t live here year-round.

🧪 RED TIDE WATCH

🟢 Current red tide picture: The latest FWC status available indicates Karenia brevis at background concentrations in one offshore Southwest Florida sample, with no suspected red-tide-related fish kills or respiratory irritation reported during that reporting period. FWC also notes that its daily sampling map is updated each day.

That’s encouraging news for beachgoers, but conditions can change, so it’s smart to check the latest FWC and Mote information before heading out.

🐟 Beach rule: If you see dead fish, unusual water discoloration or experience respiratory irritation, move away from the area and check the latest advisories.

🌊 SURF & GULF CONDITIONS

🏄 Surf: Generally low to moderate.

🌊 Waves: Mostly manageable for swimming, although conditions can become rougher when thunderstorms move through.

🚤 Boaters: Watch for rapidly developing thunderstorms and gusty winds. A calm-looking Gulf can change its personality remarkably quickly in August.

🪼 Marine life: Keep an eye out for dolphins, rays, shorebirds and the occasional sea turtle making an appearance. 🐬🐢

🌙 TIDES — AUGUST 14–20

Tides will vary throughout the week, with higher afternoon tides becoming an important consideration for beach walkers and boaters.

For example, at Caxambas Pass on Friday, August 14, tides are expected around:

🌊 High: 2:39 AM — 3.05 ft
⬇️ Low: 8:28 AM — 0.81 ft
🌊 High: 2:27 PM — 3.30 ft
⬇️ Low: 8:54 PM — 0.22 ft

📌 Beachcombing tip: Lower tides can expose more sandbars and shoreline — perfect for exploring, shell hunting and discovering what the Gulf left behind.

🎣 FISHING OUTLOOK

🎣 Early morning: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
🌤️ Late morning: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
🔥 Afternoon: ⭐⭐⭐
⛈️ During thunderstorms: ⭐ — Unless your fishing strategy involves becoming a lightning rod.

Early morning and around tide changes can provide some of the better opportunities. Anglers should keep an eye on wind, tide movement and storm development.
